Our amazing kitchen staff celebrated Chinese New Year by serving some delicious food for the children to sample with their dinners.
Our school has joined the government’s National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP), which is being delivered by the charities Family Action and Magic Breakfast.
Key Stage 1 children have been learning how to cross the road safely with a visit from Arnie the Armadillo.
A huge thank you to all children, parents and staff who contributed to raising over £300 for many good causes. A day that humbled us all and reminded us that together we can make a difference.
Our Year 2 children visited Thornaby Pavilion to take part part in Snappy Spring, along with other local schools. The event was ran by Tees Valley Music Service and with the help of their staff and the Snappy Band, the children performed to parents at the end of the day.
An absolutely fabulous World Book Day was celebrated at Bader Primary. Well done to all children (and staff) who dressed up as a book character for the day and thank you for your support with this. Class winners were chosen in each class and presented with a book for their efforts.
Our Year 6 children have had an amazing time at their residential at Kingswood. Whilst there, they built their confidence, worked in teams and most importantly had fun outdoors.
Year 5 had an amazing day at Preston Hall Museum. First we explored the Victorian buildings and discussed what life would have been like in Victorian times.
The Dog's Trust have been in school to teach us how to stay safe around dogs and about responsible dog ownership. This links to the Bader and British Value 'Respect' which we have been talking lots about in school.
As part of the Year 2 topic Tunnels, Towers and Turrets, our Year 2 children visited Durham Castle, where they toured the castle and learned all about the castle's features.
The importance of being punctual and coming to school can never be underestimated, in terms of contributing massively to children’s learning. As part of the MFC Foundation's Roary's Class Act's programme, a group of 'improved attendance' children visited Middlesbrough Football Club's Riverside Stadium.
The first two weeks of January saw the children learning all about the person who school is named after – Sir Douglas Bader.
The first foodbank box in school has been filled and 3 bags of food were delivered to The Salvation Project in Thornaby.
Bader Primary School strongly believes that every child has a right to a musical education. Music enriches children and teaches skills that can be transferred across the curriculum. On a daily basis, you will hear music across school from wake up shake ups, times tables songs and the delivery of music lessons. Music is inclusive for all children and has great benefits.
To commemorate one hundred years since the end of World War I, the children of Bader Primary School engaged in a two-week unit of work culminating with a shared act of remembrance.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to BBC Children In Need on, we raised over £320 from our coin covering Pudsey challenge. Thank you for all donations. The children had a fantastic day raising money and finding out about how our donations help children in the UK.

On Wednesday 26 September parents came into school to meet their child's new teacher and to see how their child has settled into their new class so far. This was followed by our annual Macmillan coffee afternoon, where we raised £125 for Macmillan cancer support.
Pupils returned to Bader Primary School in September to a very exciting new term with their very first ‘Aspiration Week’.
Over the summer break, Bader Primary School has had somewhat of a facelift. Opened in 1971, by the late, former Royal Air Force, flying ace, Sir Douglas Bader, the building and environment had started to look a little ‘tired’ in recent years.
Teachers and children were all excited to come back to school after half term because our new topic, ‘Time Travellers’ meant we had a very exciting trip planned to Beamish Hall Museum!
Bader Primary School celebrated Sport Relief in style by having an afternoon full of sporting activities. There were lots of fun activities to do, with 7 different stations set up on the school yard, these consisted of: bats and balls, skips and hoops, assault course, throwing stations (javelin, shot put, netball), races and team building challenges.

I am delighted and privileged to have been appointed Headteacher at Bader Primary School.
I have been a Primary School teacher for 23 years now, starting my teaching career in Stockton before moving to Middlesbrough as a Deputy Headteacher then becoming a Headteacher in Redcar. During this time, my intention was always to return to my ‘roots’ and hence, I am delighted to be returning to a community school rich in history, in Thornaby.
Pupils in Mr Brown's class have been on a truly immersive learning experience using virtual reality. Using Google's Expeditions virtual reality kit pupils were able to go on a virtual visit to a Viking village and the North Pole.
There has been a 'buzz' of excitement over the last few weeks at school, with the arrival of the iMacs. All Key Stage 2 pupils have had the chance to log on and explore and we are all looking forward to next term when they will be used to enhance the curriculum.
